NOT EXACTLY SURE WHERE YOUR PLAYER PLACES?
NOT EXACTLY SURE WHERE YOUR PLAYER PLACES?
Here’s a breakdown of the various political views concerning the matter and where particular groups stand! (I know this is lengthy, guys, but please try to get through the political views at least, just so you have a basic grip on what’s going on!
1.0 Political Views
1.1 Pro-Ministry
1.2 The Resistance
2.0 Organizations
2.1 Death Eaters
2.2 Order of the Phoenix
2.3 Dumbledore’s Army
1.0 POLITICAL VIEWS
1.1 PRO-MINISTRY:
-In order to protect civilians, the Ministry of Magic has enlisted employees to help weed out the “bad seed of society,” if you will.
- What’s important to the Ministry is creating a safe environment and eliminating any dangers and threats to society.
-Ministry supports can be in or out of school. Obviously Ministry employees are required to be out of school. However, Ministry employees are NOT required, nor expected to take on a pro-Ministry political stance.
-Opposing forces to the Ministry and those who are pro-Ministry include the Resistance and more threatening groups, such as the Death Eaters and those involved in the Radical Resistance.
1.2 PRO-RESISTANCE:
-The Resistance feels that the Ministry is taking the wrong course of action.
-They oppose what the Ministry is doing, feeling that it’s not necessary to eliminate anything that could be a threat without proof of it being dangerous.
-The Resistance is NOT affiliated with the Order of the Phoenix.
-The Resistance is NOT A FORMAL ORGANIZATION; it’s solely a political view.
-More radical Resistance supporters are known for taking violent action again those that are pro-Ministry and against the Ministry itself. Radical members operate under the radar and the Ministry tries to keep an eye on them.
-Those that are pro-Resistance can be in or out of school.
-A force opposing the Resistance is the Ministry of Magic.
—The political groups will post fliers and letters, trying to persuade characters to join their side.

PRO-RESISTANCE:
2.0 GROUPS - Click on any of the group names in all caps to view more information about the organization.
2.1 DEATH EATERS:
-Founded by Lord Voldemort.
-The Death Eaters are followers of Lord Voldemort.
-They are in favor of the elimination of “bad blood” from the Wizarding World. They want the Wizarding World to be purified.
-Death Eaters are known for taking physical and violent action against anyone opposing them (and against anyone they don’t particularly like).
-Their current headquarters are the Riddle House, occasionally the Malfoy Manor.
-Members can ONLY be OUT OF SCHOOL. Supporters can be in or out of school.
-Opposing forces include the Ministry of Magic, the Order of the Phoenix, and Dumbledore’s Army.
2.2 ORDER OF THE PHOENIX:
-Founded by Albus Dumbledore.
-The Order of the Phoenix is made up of followers of Dumbledore; they oppose the Death Eaters. Many members are Aurors. Members range from witches and wizards to Squibs.
-This is a secret, formal organization. Those involved were recruited by Dumbledore.
-The Order is a defense group, working to protect people from danger.
-Order headquarters are located at number twelve, Grimmauld Place.
-Members can ONLY be OUT OF SCHOOL. Since this is a secret organization, members will most likely be limited to canons involved in the Order or canons that were aware of its existence and have the proper qualifications to be involved in the Order. If it is felt that an original character would be a helpful asset to the organization and proves to have the appropriate qualifications, that member will be contacted via PM and asked to join.
-The Order of the Phoenix’s opposition consists of Death Eaters.
-Order members swing either way in the wizard politics department; some feel the Ministry is right in the situation, some feel it’s wrong. This is really up to the player. Please be as IN CHARACTER as possible when making this decision.
2.3 DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY:
-Founded by Hermione Granger and led by Harry Potter.
-This is a secret organization that meets to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts from Harry Potter.
-Like the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore’s Army is a defense organization. They are concerned with being able to defend oneself and others in case of an attack.
-The group meets in the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts.
-Members consist of STUDENTS ONLY, recruited by Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Because the group is a secret, members are canons that were involved in the D.A. in Order of the Phoenix or original character that Harry contacts, asking if they’d like to join. Original characters contacted will be those who display qualifications that are applicable to those who the D.A. services.
-Original characters may be aware of the possible existence of the D.A. due to RUMORS circulating about the group.
-Members of Dumbledore’s Army, like members of the Order, all have their own political views; some members disagree with the Ministry’s actions, while others support the Ministry. As previously stated, political views are up to the player. This applies to everyone, canons in particular: be IN CHARACTER when choosing your characters views.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
- Not everyone has to be pro-Ministry or pro-Resistance. Being in the middle or torn between the two sides is perfectly fine! In addition to being a realistic conflict, it also creates an interesting internal dilemma.
- I would like there to be a pretty even balance between the Resistance and Ministry supporters. Remember: your characters views do NOT reflect your personal feelings!
- I will be sending out “owls” in place of Voldemort, Dumbledore, Harry, and the Minister. If we do get any of these characters during the course of this plot, I will still be sending out the messages. I would like to collaborate closely with the players and will certainly send out messages at their request.
- The following applies more toward the Order than Dumbledore’s Army, but it’s applicable to both: please keep in mind that these are exclusive groups. Due to this, please do not expect that either group will promptly get in contact with you. If you are absolutely dying and positively must have your original character involved in one of these organizations, PM me and we can try to work something out.
- Please remember that there are many underdeveloped characters in Dumbledore’s Army, the Order, and the Death Eaters. If you’re interested in being part of any of those groups, I’d suggest checking them out first, instead of waiting for a request message to be sent to your original asking him or her to join.
Keep an eye open for plot updates and new events! I hope everyone’s able to get involved and has fun! Please contact me with any questions, comments, concerns, etc.
